Tuesday Night Before Bedtime Talk

It's just a few days before the 4th of July.  Where has the summer gone?  We had a late spring with some minor flooding.  The farmer's have had a hard time getting their crops in because of the late snow and all of th water that was standing around.

Last week, there was a tornado just 5 miles from Velva. Here is the picture that Orie found online of the tornado. It was crazy because Orie called me at work and said that the tornado siren was going off and he was in the basement. He had stayed home because he wasn't feeling well.  I'm glad he was because Sadie May and Buddie were pretty scared Orie said.

Photo: So this was 8 miles from my house about 5 days ago.

So, I have to work on Friday, July 5th so I really don't have a "holiday" but I'm off on Thursday the 4th.  Beggers can't be choosers right?! I am grateful for my job. I love it!  It's a challenge for sure.  Never a dull moment.

Orie and I have been busy with co-leading our church's youth group,  We have activities every other Friday night and then of the off week we have an afterglow after church. We love it.  I am also part of the audio/visual at church for worship on Saturday nights.  It's soo awesome! Orie is part of the team with me so we make such an awesome team.

Katie is working at Pizza Ranch in Minot.  She's busser there-from what she's said, she enjoys it,  Katie is also feeling the growing pains for becoming an adult, a college student and soon to live away from home.  I think she's got mixed emotions as it's the closing of one chapter and the opening of the rest of the empty pages,  It is our prayer that we have prepared her enough to be a successful, well rounded adult who has a good Christian head on her shoulders - only time will tell.

Well, it's getting late and I need to head off to bed - 4:45am comes early!

Tonight we had a special treat...Jack, Janeen, Katie, Orie and I all went to the Shiner's Circus in Minot.  I was simply amazing!

We saw many wonder acts and saw tigers, elephants, ponies, baby crocodiles and the man of the flying trapeze!

Since this was Katie's first time ever at a circus Janeen convinced her to ride on the elephant with her.  Here are a few pictures and video of our adventures tonight.

Don't they look like they're having fun?!

 Packing the last kiddo on!

Now I feel like a queen says Janeen!!

They loved it!

A clown from a far, just the way I like them!

Look at them watch the fling trapeze act!

Katie's final hurrah as we were walking out of the circus...just couldn't resist a photo op like this one!

Thanks for letting me share our fun.

Good night

Here are a few of my ramblins' for today.....

I can't believe it's the end of the April!  Where has the time gone?  Christmas was almost six months ago already!   WOW  Guess I'd better start making my Christmas lists! I mean, wow we just finally got rid of that last of the snow last week.  In just 4 more months, the snow is going to flying again!  ha ha ha

In one short month, we will be attending Katie's high school graduation!  Yikes, there is soo much to do before that happens. Then getting her ready to attend Minot State University in the fall.

Orie and I are co-leading the youth group at our church. It's going to be soo exciting to see what God has planned out.  The couple we're co-leading with are simply amazing, we're just excited about that.

The first week of May I start a new career. I'm working at Food Services of America as a Customer Service  Supervisor. I'm excited but nervous as well, because it's going to be a new dimension I haven't explored fully lately.  I am feeling confident though...so I guess I can say bring it on right?  Orie got a nice raise last week, all I can say to that is Praise The Lord!

Katie just now handed me her prom picture, so I thought I'd share it.

Gorgeous right?  She said she had a great time, and danced a lot.  Mind you, she always makes it very clear that she and Matt are only friends. Okay.....lol.

Moving to North Dakota has been a blessing, and for that I am so grateful. With this new chapter, it has required me to slow down and enjoy so many things. I guess you can say....stop and smell the roses. I don't have roses here however, but I do get to stop and simply say beautiful at the gorgeous sunrises and sunsets here in North Dakota.  Here are a few I stopped and praised Him for the reminder of how great is our God!

Beautiful right?  The pictures just don't do it justice.

Well, I'd better get busy deciding what I'm going to make for supper.

April 10, 2013

We're still in North Dakota since the year I've last blogged.

Let's see, where to begin?  A couple of months after getting the family all settled in, Jack, Orie's stepdad came out to seek employment as the job opportunities weren't the plenteous in Salt Lake City. He as here a week a landed a wonderful job as a drywaller for LS Drywall.  A couple of months after that, Janeen packed up the house and moved in with us as well.  They were here through the holidays and then found a house in January and moved into their own home in Minot.  It's soo nice to have the family close by.

It has been a busy year for us....here are just a few pictures to show you what we've been up to:

Katie was a cheerleader for both football & basketball so we attended out fair share of games!

Got to spend the holidays with Marci, Chari and my mom in Valley City.  That was soo amazing!

Christmas in Valley City 2012

My beautiful mom. She stayed with us from Thanksgiving till after New Years.  It was soo nice to have her with us for the holidays.

Janeen and Jack were such a blessing to have here.  We so enjoyed them.

Choir concerts to attend.

Double Date night with The MacDonalds

Santa was alot bigger than I what remembered!

Katie's Drama team went to competition a won 1st place.

Thanksgiving 2012

Women's Retreat this past March 2013

So there you have a few things that happened in 2012.  I had two hospital stays due to issues with my feet and blisters...long story there.  Let's just say, they're all healed up and I'm only minus an end of a big toe.

In a couple of short months, Katie says goodbye to Velva High and will be attending Minot State University in the fall.  Until then, there is alot to do.  Here are a few of her senior pictures, they turned out really well.

The last one cracks me up everytime I see it.  Her eyes are just slits!  lol It's so hard to believe that she's already a senior.  It just seems like yesterday when she came to our home a scared, frightened, confused, and angry young lady.  She's made a complete 180 and is living for the Lord, working, and getting good grades to boot.  What more could parents ask for??!!

Well, that's all for now....God is good and in control.

Cyndi

What? Moved? When? Where? Why?

Okay, okay...the house needed spring cleaning and I told Orie let's move?!  Ha ha ha....actually......

It's a long story, but I'll give you the shortened version.  While I was at work I saw a former boss from a former employer walk past my desk.  I later went and spoke with the VP who was with him and we started to talk.  I mentioned I was originally from the Midwest and jokingly said "If you have a new location somewhere in the Midwest count me in."  Well that was the day before Thanksgiving.  A week after Thanksgiving, I was asked to step in  the VP's office with a couple of other VP's for an interview for a new branch that was opening in Minot, ND.  I couldn't believe it!  I came home and told Orie all about it and immediately started praying about the move and God's guidance.  We told God, you lead, we will follow.  A week before Christmas, I was asked to do a video conference with the Branch Manager in Minot and I was hired.  I asked when he wanted me to start -  without batting an eye he said January 2nd.  WOW I got 2 weeks to find a place to stay and well pack, have Christmas...the list was endless.  The start date was moved back to January 9th, so we decided Orie and Katie would stay in Las Vegas and I would be the pioneer to go start my new job and also find us a place to live. On February 21st I flew into Las Vegas and on the 22nd we began the exodus out of Las Vegas into the Great White North.  When I left Minot there was no snow on the ground, but when we drove into town at 0300 on Sunday morning we drove in blizzard the last 275 miles!  That was North Dakota's way of welcoming us home!  Unpacking the truck was done with blowing snow, and temperatures hovering around 10 above zero.  It took Orie a hot shower to warm up after 3 hrs of unpacking the truck! Me? I was thankful we made it safely and everything was still intact. We stopped in Salt Lake City and Orie's mom, Janeen decided she wanted to come and assist us in the move.  For that I was soo grateful -  I had to be back to work on Monday morning at 0700...no rest for the weary.

Housing - That would be wonderful if Minot, ND didn't have a flood last spring and wipe out 4700 homes.  The work here is abundant but the laborers are few.   There is not place to be rented....When I first got to  Minot, I stayed with Pastor Bill Smith and his family from the Calvary Chapel here.  It's soo amazing how the family of God is soo broad that we have brothers and sisters in Christ that would open their home to me.  After a week staying with them, I moved into another couple's home where I stayed until Orie and Katie arrived.  Their names are Steve and Tari Axness - talk about an awesome couple and I so enjoyed my stay there with them.  They watched over me while the rest of my family was in Las Vegas.   God led us out there and I found a home for us in Velva, ND about 19 miles east out of Minot the first week I was here.  It's a cute older home on a half acre lot and it's right across the street from the local school.  Katie literally walks across the road to get to school.  This puts a mother's mind at ease and there's no excuse for being late to school!

My position with Ahern Rentals here in Minot has changed. I oversee the parts department, take care of the dispatching (the delivery and pick up of our equipment) and also work the counter.  Never a dull moment that's for sure.  I LOVE MY JOB!

Orie got a job before he moved to Minot with a company called The Computer Store.   He's a tech and started today, Wednesday, March 6, 2012.  He said he and the guy he's shadowing drove about 80 miles today to various towns doing repairs on customer's computers and troubleshooting.  He was very excited when he got home.

Katie went from Centennial High School in Las Vegas, NV with a school size of over 3100 students to a K-12 school in the same building  with a school size of 450 students. I did mention, that is 450 students K - 12.  Her average class size is about 8 - 10 students.  We're soo thankful for this as she needs some extra assistance to get caught up to grade level and the school is wonderful for offering that assistance to her on a daily basis.  She even says the cafeteria food is better!  lol

In the nutshell that is the latest news from The Goudge Gazette.  I'll try to be more proactive and update more often.

Where God guides, God provides!  Amen!

At His Feet,

Cyndi
