What? Moved? When? Where? Why?

Okay, okay...the house needed spring cleaning and I told Orie let's move?!  Ha ha ha....actually......

It's a long story, but I'll give you the shortened version.  While I was at work I saw a former boss from a former employer walk past my desk.  I later went and spoke with the VP who was with him and we started to talk.  I mentioned I was originally from the Midwest and jokingly said "If you have a new location somewhere in the Midwest count me in."  Well that was the day before Thanksgiving.  A week after Thanksgiving, I was asked to step in  the VP's office with a couple of other VP's for an interview for a new branch that was opening in Minot, ND.  I couldn't believe it!  I came home and told Orie all about it and immediately started praying about the move and God's guidance.  We told God, you lead, we will follow.  A week before Christmas, I was asked to do a video conference with the Branch Manager in Minot and I was hired.  I asked when he wanted me to start -  without batting an eye he said January 2nd.  WOW I got 2 weeks to find a place to stay and well pack, have Christmas...the list was endless.  The start date was moved back to January 9th, so we decided Orie and Katie would stay in Las Vegas and I would be the pioneer to go start my new job and also find us a place to live. On February 21st I flew into Las Vegas and on the 22nd we began the exodus out of Las Vegas into the Great White North.  When I left Minot there was no snow on the ground, but when we drove into town at 0300 on Sunday morning we drove in blizzard the last 275 miles!  That was North Dakota's way of welcoming us home!  Unpacking the truck was done with blowing snow, and temperatures hovering around 10 above zero.  It took Orie a hot shower to warm up after 3 hrs of unpacking the truck! Me? I was thankful we made it safely and everything was still intact. We stopped in Salt Lake City and Orie's mom, Janeen decided she wanted to come and assist us in the move.  For that I was soo grateful -  I had to be back to work on Monday morning at 0700...no rest for the weary.

Housing - That would be wonderful if Minot, ND didn't have a flood last spring and wipe out 4700 homes.  The work here is abundant but the laborers are few.   There is not place to be rented....When I first got to  Minot, I stayed with Pastor Bill Smith and his family from the Calvary Chapel here.  It's soo amazing how the family of God is soo broad that we have brothers and sisters in Christ that would open their home to me.  After a week staying with them, I moved into another couple's home where I stayed until Orie and Katie arrived.  Their names are Steve and Tari Axness - talk about an awesome couple and I so enjoyed my stay there with them.  They watched over me while the rest of my family was in Las Vegas.   God led us out there and I found a home for us in Velva, ND about 19 miles east out of Minot the first week I was here.  It's a cute older home on a half acre lot and it's right across the street from the local school.  Katie literally walks across the road to get to school.  This puts a mother's mind at ease and there's no excuse for being late to school!

My position with Ahern Rentals here in Minot has changed. I oversee the parts department, take care of the dispatching (the delivery and pick up of our equipment) and also work the counter.  Never a dull moment that's for sure.  I LOVE MY JOB!

Orie got a job before he moved to Minot with a company called The Computer Store.   He's a tech and started today, Wednesday, March 6, 2012.  He said he and the guy he's shadowing drove about 80 miles today to various towns doing repairs on customer's computers and troubleshooting.  He was very excited when he got home.

Katie went from Centennial High School in Las Vegas, NV with a school size of over 3100 students to a K-12 school in the same building  with a school size of 450 students. I did mention, that is 450 students K - 12.  Her average class size is about 8 - 10 students.  We're soo thankful for this as she needs some extra assistance to get caught up to grade level and the school is wonderful for offering that assistance to her on a daily basis.  She even says the cafeteria food is better!  lol

In the nutshell that is the latest news from The Goudge Gazette.  I'll try to be more proactive and update more often.

Where God guides, God provides!  Amen!

At His Feet,

Cyndi
